After training at the New York School of Mechanical Dentistry, he apprenticed at a laboratory in Poughkeepsie, New York. Norm served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. His wartime disability necessitated a career that would help keep him off his feet. Dental technology is a field that is satisfying to him and Norm has grown to be an adept technician. His lab, which has been in operation for over 27 years, now employs five technicians. Norm earned his Certified Dental Technician certification in 1982, and continues to keep up with current technologies through continuing education opportunities. Norm and his lovely wife Ruthie reside in Stone Ridge, New York. They have raised two daughters: Alyssa, a registered dental hygienist; and Tracy, currently a college student and part-time delivery person for the lab. He has served as the Fire Chief in the local Volunteer Fire Company, and is currently the Treasurer of the Dental Laboratory Association of New York. Norm would like to see the dental technician recognized as an integral part of the dental rehabilitation team. With the technician and dentist working more closely together, a better product is produced for the dental patient. |
